Kerbal Diaries Introduction

In this brand new production, I will be playing Kerbal Space Program, Recording Everything, then going back and writing stories in the style of a Diary, History Text, or News Segment depending on the characters involved or how the events transpire. All recordings will be published to my Youtube channel under Kerbal Diaries, as well as at the bottom of each entry for easy viewing access. I will be following several rules during my playthrough, and those are as follows.

  1. No Quicksaves, Quickloads, or reverts during normal play. They are allowed when I am testing, and entries will make it clear when testing is taking place.
  2. Death is permanent. A Kerbal dies, then he or she is dead forever.
  3. The tech tree must be evenly progressed through, no exceptions.
  4. Mods are in use, but no mod will be used to make the game “easier”. Most mods are part mods, some like FAR make the game even harder. A full mod’s list will be added when I decide exactly what I want to use.
  5. The game is to be played in science rather than career. These reasons will be explained lore wise in the first Journal Entry, but mainly it is so that I don’t waste time chasing down money.

I hope you enjoy this content. Production is actively underway, and I hope to release new entries to keep pace with Kerbalcast. However, I am a busy man and as such I may not make it. I will strive to do my best though.
I hope you enjoy!

Edit:

Here is the mod list I came up with. I decided to keep it somewhat simple since I will be recording so much. I'd like to have as few game crashes as possible. I may introduce or remove mods in the future based on how the game/mods update and if I find something really cool. I'll make notes in entries and make changes to the list as I go along.

  • Hyperedit: Used for testing purposes. Treated in the story like a Simulator.
  • KW Rocketry: Gotta have my heavy lifting rocket parts!
  • Kerbal Attachment System: Includes KIS as well, and will be used for bases and other gameplay elements I quite like.
  • KAX: More aircraft parts!
  • D-Magic Orbital Science: More science, more parts, more options!
  • FAR: I much prefer FAR's aerodynamic model to stock. In some ways makes the game easier, in some ways makes the harder.
  • Karbonite: More parts, more mining, more options.
  • Kerbal Alarm Clock: Gotta have those reminders.
  • Kerbal Engineer: For information and stuff.
  • Stage Recovery: I actually like designing reusable rockets, and this makes doing that possible since it removes the possibility of the Physics engine eating your rocket parts.
